Commentary by Joe Biddle, The Tennessean

The Titans don't have a quarterback controversy.

They have a quarterback dilemma.

Veteran Kerry Collins can't run like Vince Young. Never could. Never will.

On the other hand, Vince Young can't pass like Kerry Collins. Not yet. Maybe never.

Young passed his return to the Titans' starting lineup with flying colors Sunday. He had two passes he would like to have had back, but every NFL quarterback would take some mulligans to use during a game.

Thanks to a butterfingered Jaguars cornerback, Young did not have any interceptions. No fumbles.

He was all smiles after the 30-13 win over Jacksonville. I don't think any of us can imagine the pressure Young was under to deliver the type of performance he had Sunday.

Young knew he was replacing Collins because owner Bud Adams wanted to evaluate whether to keep Young past this season. The other players knew it, also. This wasn't a coaching decision, putting Young under the gun with his coaches and teammates.

It's like being the teacher's pet in school. Yeah, you get perks, but the rest of the kids can't stand you.

Under that pressure, I saw a confident Vince Young against a Jacksonville team that beat the Titans by 20 points three games earlier. It is also a Jags team that in its previous two games had lost 41-0 to Seattle and worked overtime to beat St. Louis 23-20.
